I’ve loved cooking for as long as I can remember. Growing up in northwest Thailand, I learned the foundations of Thai cuisine in my mother’s kitchen — where nothing went to waste, everything was made from scratch, and meals were prepared with care and heart.
My grandmother’s home in Ayutthaya, on my father’s side, introduced me to another style of home cooking — rooted in countryside ingredients, the aromas of herbs and spices, and the traditions of riverside living. On my mother’s side, in Phichit Province, I spent time in my grandparents’ kitchen learning to cook and eat with the seasons, appreciating how villagers preserved food when nature offered in abundance.
Those early memories still inspire the way I cook today — with balance, respect, and creativity.
After graduating from Chiang Mai University, my career in publishing brought me to Phuket, where I worked with Phuket Magazine, the island’s leading lifestyle guide. Later, I spent several years in the property industry, traveling across Thailand and discovering the country’s incredible regional cuisines. Each province had its own stories, flavors, and people who deepened my appreciation for Thai food.
Eventually, I decided to follow my true calling and formally train as a chef. I enrolled in the Professional Thai Cuisine Program at Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Culinary School in Bangkok — where I graduated top of my class. That experience shaped my understanding of cooking as both an art and a science.
Today, I share my passion through BrassWok Thai Cooking Class and Private Chef in Phuket, where guests can experience Thai cuisine from garden to table. My cooking philosophy is simple: use local and seasonal ingredients, support local farmers, cook sustainably, and let fresh flavors shine.
When I’m not teaching, you’ll find me in my herb garden — nurturing the soil with compost made from the vegetable peels and trimmings from our classes. It’s a simple way to give back to the earth that gives us so much.
Come cook with me and discover what real Thai food tastes like.
Love,
Pui
